Catholic Schools Week
As we begin Catholic Schools Week this Sunday, The Catholic Schools Office wishes you great JOY and we pray that you will grow closer in your community through Jesus.
Inclusion in Action
IT’S CONFERENCE TIME!
Your friends from the FIRE Foundation are ready to roll out the red carpet for you, along with other inclusive Catholic education advocates from across the country. As of today, attendees from 16 states, from coast to coast, are registered to attend! The word is out that great things are happening in Kansas City when in comes to inclusive Catholic education!
We would love to welcome more local educators; just a few schools in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph are taking advantage of this opportunity. This is an affordable (a special discount for Diocesan educators!) opportunity to learn from leading national experts on topics related to inclusion and special education.
Please consider attending the F.I.R.E Conference in Kansas City February 18- 20, 2019. Please see the attached flyer for details.
STEAM Studio Week
Rockhurst University presents STEAM Studio Week February 25th – March 1st. Please see the attached flyer for information on Field Excursions and customized Professional Development.
Advisory Council President Conference
The Diocesan School Board is sponsoring a 2-hour session on April 23, 2019 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Catholic Center to discuss the role of advisory council president and his/her relation to the principal. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE AND LET YOUR ADVISORY COUNCIL/BOARD PRESIDENT DO THE SAME. Both present presidents and next year presidents are invited as well as school principals. More information will be provided as we get closer to the date.
Benchmark Assessment Pilot Testing Window Opens NEXT Week! ~ 2nd Notice
Friends, its here! As a reminder, all 3rd-8th grade math classes should take the pilot of the benchmark assessment this coming week. Please emphasize to your teachers that these assessments are not perfect but they are strong. I am 100% aware that revisions need to happen after the assessments are given. I want to be transparent with you and your staff. We need to be realistic and understand that there is human error and I will need everyone’s help to finalize the assessments. Thank you for your patience and understanding as I continue to work through this process. As always, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions. To those who have already, thanks for reaching out for clarification. I am looking forward to our pilot round!
Here is the information letter from Amy regarding the Benchmark Assessments which includes the link to the Google folder where you can find the assessments.
Go Chiefs! ~Amy

Emmaus Leadership Series ~ 2nd Notice
Each year the Barbara and Patrick Roche Center for Catholic Education out of Boston College solicits participants for their Emmaus Leadership Series. Jodie Maddox, Darin Pollard, and Ann Wright have been participants this year. They would be very interested in sharing their experience, I am sure. Kristin Meiley, the director of Professional Development, will host a 30-minute webinar conversation at 1:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 24, 2019 for anyone interested in the Emmaus Series. Please register for the webinar at emmausseries.org. Dan encourages you to at least consider this program. The feedback is very positive.
Pray It Forward Campaign ~ 2nd Notice
Below you will find links to help spread the word about our Pray It Forward Campaign for Catholic Schools Week. If you have not yet shared this campaign with all of your school and parish families via social media, email and any other communication tools you have, please do so. Encourage as many people as possible to participate in the campaign. You can share the website link and the google form link starting now through Catholic Schools Week. The map on the Pray It Forward website will be updated daily until CSW and then 4 times each day during CSW. If your school would like to have your own google map, please let LeAnn know and she will send the directions needed to set it up. (You will be responsible for the updating of your map each day.)

|WEEKLY PRAYER INTENTIONS|
- * Dear Jesus, There is joy in praising, joy in loving, joy in serving, joy in caring, joy in sharing. As we reflect and celebrate our faith this week, may we come to serve, not only ourselves, but each other and most
importantly God the Father. Help us to find the joy that comes through praising, serving, caring, and giving as we live our lives in you, Amen.
- * Please keep the Phillips family and the Nativity of Mary community in your prayers as they mourn the loss of Pierson Phillips. May Pearson rest in peace and may God hold his family and friends in His loving arms during this difficult time.
* O Heavenly Father, give us wisdom and hope as we work to strengthen and prosper Catholic Education in our Diocese. May our Catholic schools help parents to form their children in a relationship of faith, hope and love with and in Jesus Christ. Make our Catholic schools places where students grow in knowledge, wisdom, integrity and virtue.
